The AirKitty app is a Dropbox-style airtime storage-and-swapping mobile application built around four superheroes -- Team AirKitty -- who live in cyberspace and help their young users to store and swap mobile airtime and stay in touch with one another while protecting them from ‘net nasties’ like cyberbullying, identity theft and viruses. An AirKitty user could swap 100 of their spare minutes in exchange for 50MB of spare data from another user’s allowance. Or swap 48 of their own SMS for 26 of another users MMS. Across mobile networks. AirKitty also protects its users from online hazards (like cyberbullying, chain emails, identity theft, adult material, illegal downloads, predators, spam, copyright infringement and viruses) by employing a series of pop-up alerts to make its users aware of the various hazards, or ‘net nasties’, associated with whichever mobile activity they are engaged in (e.g. voice calls, texting, web surfing and picture-messaging): http://airkitty.co.uk/
